Pretoria Canopy Meeting

The photo was taken by the meeting of the Pretoria Canopy on 12 June to Thaba Tshwane.

The Parachute men founded an organisation in the beginning of the year that is now known as PVR - Parachute Veterans Organisation.

The purpose of the PVR is to involve all old Bats and funds to help men that are struggling.

Pretoria Canopy is the largest canopy in the country and the honorary members Ronny Claassen and Harry Finley.

Both members were in the first group who were trained in England as Bats.

Harry was the lightweight boxer of the World in 1962 .

Anyone interested in the PVR can contact me directly.

The ‘Veteran’ Parachute Soldiers / Die ‘Veterane’ Valskerm Soldate

The ‘Veteran’ Parachute Soldiers founded an organisation where all qualified Parachute members may join. The Pretoria Canopy’s first meeting took place in Gesina the rest the Pretoria Rugby Club.
Ronnie Claasen and Harry Finley, two members of the original group of 15 Parachute trainees who had their training in Britain in 1960 were chosen as Honorary Members of the Pretoria Canopy.

At the meeting of 13 March Ronnie gave an interesting talk on their training in Britain to the about 70 members and a few ladies who had attended.

The purpose of the founding of these Parachute Canopies is non political, it is for the unity and for gathering advice and funds for members of the group who are in need of assistance.

The Pretoria Canopy as procured a venue in Thaba Tshwane for further meetings.
